Snake trapped in a Fishing net & Saved.

The snake was caught in a net laid by fishermen. On 18th March 2018 a checkered killed back snake was found dead in fishing net. In the past, many times there have been incidents of snakes being found dead in this way, like Checkered killed Back, Python, and Rat Snake etc.


Wildlife Conservationist Yadav Tarte Patil, Dhananjay Bhamburkar & his team of Disha foundation met local fishermen to give them an idea and explained them. Aslo written letter to the Fishery department & requested that it be deployed. Meanwhile at Chhatri Lake, two birds were died in the year 2013, 3 snakes in the year 2014, 2 Tortoise in the year 2017 and 2 Python snake & one bird ‘Spotbill duck’ died in 2017. Two turtles were found dead at Pohra Lake in the year 2018. In Amravati district there are 57 lakes. & fishing is done on this lake. It’s a basic livelihood for fisherman. But due to waste fishing net many aquatic biodiversity got threatened. It’s very harmful for aquatic ecosystem. Not only the fish live in the lake but the entire water system is there. Fish is a component of the water system. Food chain operates in aquatic ecosystem. Every life is important in the cycle of nature. The total food chain, including algae and other aquatic plants, small and large insects, mussels, frogs, fish and birds that live on them. So if you found any waste of part of fishing net on the bank of lake, please let us know & help in the conservation in this way.
